Charlotte Market Food Drive Helps Local Food Banks
The Charlotte stores have teamed up with a local radio station (New Life 91.9) for several fun and innovative promotions throughout the season. The region worked with this radio station last season and the owners were pleased with the results. There is no monetary cost for the promotions, only exchange of product/use of location for on-air mentions and web promos. The first event was a food drive to collect food to benefit local food banks in the region. Scot Reed, owner with wife Sherri of the Tega Cay location, says, ”Given that it was our first (food drive) I was very impressed with the amount of donations we received. The Tega Cay Bruster's donated 390 pounds of food!

Kannapolis, NC Gives Back
Marcy and Greg Farr have a great time giving back to the community that supports them! Recently, they participated in a ‘reward day’ for their daughter’s school and gave out 600 cups of Italian Ice! Marcy writes, “Our daughters’ school is First Assembly Christian School in Concord, NC. The event was their spring fundraiser called the Eagle Legacy Classic Remix.
The kids get donations from friends and family and are rewarded with a fun day on the school grounds. They set up 18 “holes” with a different activity at each hole. Our trailer was the 9th hole. Each class came to our (location) on a rotating schedule and we passed out approximately 600 cups of blue pop and grape ice over a 4 hour period to the students, teachers, and volunteers.
The Farr’s consider it was their family’s donation to the event. This was our second year participating. |

Perhaps Our Biggest Fan
We had a special guest at our store tour yesterday named Jack Gardner. He is a 16 year old that “LOVES” our brand. His family uses our product as a motivator for Jack in school work and other things.
It’s a long story as to how he ended up at the seminar…but I ultimately invited him because we thought he would get a kick out of coming to the store, meeting Bruce, having some ice cream and some Bruster’s stuff (thanks marketing department)!
After the store tour…he showed up unexpectedly at the hotel with his mom…in the gear that we had just given him and wanted to show Bruce and take a picture.”
She also included a link to Jack’s page: www.knowhispeace.com.
Lori received the following email from Jack’s mom:
Hi Lori,
Thank you so much for making the arrangements for Jack to meet Bruce. He has already told so many people about it and is excited about wearing his new Bruster’s hat and shirt. As you can see, Jack makes friends very easily. He loves people and has never
met a stranger.
I have attached the picture of Jack with "Mr. Bruce". I think it turned out great! We really were going to study his Spanish outside the meeting and wait until it was over. :) Thank you for being so understanding. Jack has been through quite a lot these past few years. Thank God he remains so positive and optimistic.
…You had asked which store we take Jack to. The closest one to our house is on Trickum Road in Marietta. We also take him to the Crossville store in Roswell when we go to Trader Joe's. I believe he has made friends with the lady who works there. He sometimes just says he wants to say hello to her but always leaves with an ice cream cone. :)
Thank you again for your time and kindness towards Jack.
Blessings,
Mary Gardner (Jack's mom) |

An Event Worth Repeating for East Petersburg and York-Delco, PA Stores!
February 23rd may have been a snowy, slow day at East Petersburg and York-Delco, but the blood drive they held inside the Lancaster General Hospital was really hoppin'! Bruster’s Manager Jeff Girard distributed a “Pint for a Pint” coupon and cup of blue pop ice with vitamin C to every donor. The hospital helped advertise for the blood drive by sending out an invitation to the staff and displaying posters throughout the hospital. Jeff and his children were at the hospital at 6AM on the morning of the event. Jeff wore the Scoops costume and he and his kids walked around the hospital handing out promotional flyers. One of the blood drive workers stated, “We were expecting our normal 40-50 donors, but after staying an extra 1 1/2 hours we collected 104 pints total!” |
